You don't have 'de.utf8' locale on this system.
setlocale(3) has a return value which you should check if you are
interested whether it succeeded.

Reminder - Debian Bug Squashing Party in Salzburg/Austria - 17-19 April 2015

As the first announcement for the BSP in Salzburg was sent in December, I
thought it is a good time to re-send the invitation. Here are just a few extra
hints:

* If you'd like to meet for a Team meeting or sprint, please let me know ASAP so
we can organize the appropriate rooms.

* For those who said 'Yes, I'm going' on the Google+ event page - please
register in the wiki.

* If you need help with (sponsored) accommodation also please let me know as
soon as possible.

Find all other details below!

See you in April!

Best regards,

Bernd

Debian Bug Squashing Party in Salzburg/Austria - 17-19 April 2015

After the release is before the release. The only difference is the
release name!
We are happy to invite you to the third Debian Bug Squashing Party in
Salzburg, Austria, on the weekend of 17-19 April, 2015 [BSPSBG].

The BSP will be held in the office of conova communications GmbH [CONOVA],
located close to Salzburg Airport W.A. Mozart.

Team meetings/sprints during the BSP are not a problem at all, just let me
know in advance so we can organize appropriate rooms.

A short registration on the wiki page [BSPSBG] is required to ease the
organization of the event. On the same page you will find information
regarding transport, accommodation and other useful things.

in fixing bugs and helping Debian, don't hesitate to come! There will be
enough people around to sponsor your uploads. More information about BSPs
and RC-Bugsquashing can be found at [WIKBSP], [PRIMER] and [BDOR-C].

No. I expect the same output as shown by the other example. I expected
that either "de_DE" or "de_DE.UTF8" should fit.

How can I check which locales are available?

Yes. So the example shows that neither of my calls to setlocale() result
in the expected language. The big question is why? The sample works on my
Desktop (Debian Wheezy) and in the chroot (Debian Squeeze) environment.
