Python-u2flib-server provides modules for the server side
of the Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) protocol. It complements the
libu2f-server C library but it's an independent Python implementation.
It offers functionality for Registration and Authentication operations.
The package also contains an basic example of a Python web server using
U2F authentication.

I would need a sponsor. Since the libu2f-server and related packages
are maintained by the Debian Authentication Maintainers team and
Simon Josefsson from Yubico, it would probably be good to co-maintain.

At the moment there is no graphical interface for using encrypted
LUKS/TrueCrypt container files in Debian. On the one hand there are licencing
issues with original TrueCrypt application and its successors. On the other the
need for elevated privileges s to handle such containers makes developing such
an interface not straightforward. The only other graphical application that I
am aware of called ZuluCrypt was unfortunately not accepted into Debian because
it uses setuid [1].

luckyLUKS aims to fill this gap by providing an easy to use interface:
- Create LUKS[2] or TrueCrypt[3] containers
- Unlock/Close existing containers
- Systray icon as a reminder to close them eventually
- Create freedesktop start menu entries as shortcuts
- Mounting works with or without running udisks daemon

Encrypted containers have some advantages compared to the much better supported
encrypted partitions (especially for casual computer users):
- No need to deal with partition table wizardry when creating an encrypted
container, just creating a file on an (internal or external) harddrive/usbstick
etc
- Backup is straightforward, just copy the file somewhere else
- Allows adding some encrypted private data to an unencrypted external
harddrive you want to share with friends or take with you while travelling
- Lots of users are already quite familiar with all this, because their first
touch with data encryption has been TrueCrypt which uses the encrypted
container approach

All tasks that require elevated privileges are executed from a seperate child
process. Sudo is used to handle this combined with strict checks on ipc
commands - reviews welcome! I developed the application to support some friends
that are not too keen on using the command line, it has been tested for a while
and is probably ready for general use by now. I have the application in a
Launchpad PPA at the moment and think I'll be able to maintain the Debian
package myself - will now start looking for a sponsor to help with that. More
information including a FAQ and a little screencast on the homepage.

Getting multiarch fixes unstuck

About a month ago I sent fixes to make a bunch of packages multiarch 
compatible. However, except for two packages, none of the 20 packages 
have included the proposed fix, or commented on them, requested 
improvements, or given any sign of life.

What can I do to help move things forward?


Here are the relevant bugs:

#689068 - libxi-dev is not Multi-Arch compatible
#689089 - libglu1-mesa-dev is not Multi-Arch compatible
#689124 - libatk1.0-dev is not Multi-Arch compatible
#724934 - Please convert libmodplug to multiarch
#777070 - libgme0 is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777200 - libcdaudio1 is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777202 - libzbar0 is not Multi-Arch compatible
  -> Also fixes a build dependency.
#777203 - libofa0 is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777207 - libmimic0 is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777209 - libkate1 is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777210 - liba52-0.7.4: liba52-0.7.4 is not Multi-Arch compatible
  -> Introduces an xxx-tools package to solve a multiarch issue.
#777211 - libgtkglext1 is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777223 - libtwolame0 is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777224 - libsidplay1 is not Multi-Arch compatible


In particular the patch below proposes to fix a multiarch issue by 
dropping the -L option from the xxx-config script as it's not needed on 
Debian. I would really like to know whether that approach is ok (or why 
not).

#760370 - libpcap0.8-dev is not Multi-Arch compatible


I also submitted patches to the following packages. Those are not 
complete multiarch fixes in that they don't fix all the issues 
preventing full multiarch compatibility. But they do fix at least one 
aspect which makes it easier to then focus on the remaining issues.

#689097 - libgtk2.0-dev is not Multi-Arch compatible
#689122 - libcairo2-dev is not Multi-Arch compatible
#777222 - libcdio13 is not Multi-Arch compatible

Padme, named after the Star Wars (tm) character, is a library for
creating proxy objects out of any other Python object.  The resulting
object is as close to mimicking the original as possible. Some things
are impossible to fake in CPython so those are highlighted below. All
other operations are silently forwarded to the original.

Padme is a vendorized dependency of plainbox and I want to create a
standalone package. Padme will be team-maintained though I will
obviously release each update myself if nobody else beats me to it.
Since Padme is small in scope and well-defined it should require little
maintenance.

You might have noticed that Debian has been in a freeze for the last 4
months: https://release.debian.org/jessie/freeze_policy.html

Multiarch'ifying libraries for Debian 9 is not maintainers' top priority
right now, and in particular, uploading these changes to unstable would
disrupt the release process. (Depending on the package, experimental
might be available, or the maintainer might already be using
experimental to stage orthogonal changes.)

, so that it can be released as Debian
8, so that unstable is open for business again for Debian 9 changes?

I recently had to deal with this problem myself, when packaging the
documentation for granule. If there are Makefiles distributed with the
SGML, it might be easier, but otherwise, you can just use the relevant
commands.

Firstly, you should install the docbook-utils package. Then, for html,
you can use the command "db2html -i online path/to/file.sgml"

As for PDF and PS formats, I'm not sure. You might be able to use other
tools in the docbook-utils package, though.

packages for community. From deb packages I am going to build also for Debian.

I am not sure about packaging team. I have never been packages maintainer.

It sounds like this is a manual that is only available in Debian? If
so please talk to upstream about including it and ask what format they
would prefer for documentation source. Personally I would recommend
one of the plain text formats like markdown or reStructuredText. Then
work out the conversion method. The pandoc package has a lot of
different converters. Once that is done and the documentation is
converted to upstream's preferred documentation source format, they
will need to add build-time conversion to an end-user format. In
Debian we recommend man or HTML but they probably will want different
formats depending on the platform. For example on Windows they will
probably want CHM format.
