Bug#737314: ITP: seqtk -- sampling, trimming, fastq2fasta, subsequence, reverse complement

2014-02-01 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Tille

* Package name: seqtk
  Version : 1.0
  Upstream Author : Heng Li
* URL : https://github.com/lh3/seqtk
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : sampling, trimming, fastq2fasta, subsequence, reverse
complement
 Currently, seqtk supports quality based trimming with the phred
 algorithm, converting fastq to fasta, reverse complementing sequences,
 extracting or masking subsequences in regions given in a BED/name list
 file, and more. It contains a subsampling module to sample exactly n
 sequences or a fraction of sequences.
 .
 Seqtk supports both fasta and fastq input files, which can be
 optionally gzip compressed.

This package is maintained by the Debian Med team and was created at the
Debian Med Sprint at request of Brad Chapman.

Bug#737327: ITP: dnaclust -- tool for clustering millions of short DNA sequences

2014-02-01 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Tille

* Package name: dnaclust
  Version : 3
  Upstream Author : Mohammadreza Ghodsi
* URL : http://dnaclust.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL3+
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : tool for clustering millions of short DNA sequences
 dnaclust is a tool for clustering large number of short DNA sequences.
 The clusters are created in such a way that the "radius" of each
 clusters is no more than the specified threshold.
 .
 The input sequences to be clustered should be in Fasta format. The id
 of each sequence is based on the first word of the seqeunce in the Fasta
 format. The first word is the prefix of the header up to the first
 occurance of white space characters in the header.

This package is maintained by the Debian Med team and was packaged as a
demonstration in the Debian Med workshop at request of Tim.

Bug#737335: general: Resets pulseaudio volume to 100% after pause

2014-02-01 Thread moli
Package: general
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

use subtitle-composer with phonon. Set master level to a value < 100, play
video, pause video, press play.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Something resets the master volume to 100 upon resuming from pause. Very
loud sound, pain in my ears.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Painless enjoyment of nice, quiet videos.

Note: i have phonon-backend-vlc version over 0.6.0-1 ! (debian-jessie latest)
Also i use veromix as my mixer.
Pulseaudio is set to use a single daemon!
daemonize = yes
system-instance = yes

Let me know if you need more data, please.

Reproducing build error / environment

2014-02-01 Thread Christoph Ender

Hi all,

I’m currently having trouble reproducing a build error – see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=735757 – which occurs for
package fizmo on amd64. While the problem itself shouldn’t be that hard to fix
(an include path is incorrect) I’d like to be able to reproduce the error so I
can be sure that the new version really fixes it. I’ve tried by setting up a
fresh sid installation on the same architecture and put in all the current
patches, however I’m not able to reproduce the problem (build works fine
without error).

What’s the best way to reproduce the environment the actual build machine is
using?

Thanks in advance,
Christoph.

Hi! This seems to be a bug in kde-runtime's knotify4, which I think has
already been reported (although I don't remember if correctly reassigned to
kde-runtime).

For the moment I'm reassigning this bug to kde-runetime.

Thanks, Lisandro.

Is this some kind of spam, or what ?

I can't find offhand what #1393 was (I haven't searched my archives).
iw...@cus.cam.ac.uk used to be me. (Indeed the entire BTS ran out of
that account for the first bit of its life, but I don't think that's
relevant here.)

Bug#737356: ITP: cryptography -- a Python library which exposes cryptographic recipes and primitives.

2014-02-01 Thread Tristan Seligmann
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Tristan Seligmann

* Package name: cryptography
  Version : 0.1

Van Houtven, Jean-Paul Calderone, Christian Heimes,
Paul Kehrer, and individual contributors.
* URL : https://cryptography.io/
* License : Apache License, Version 2.0
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : a Python library which exposes cryptographic recipes and
primitives.

The cryptography library is designed to be a "one-stop-shop" for
all your cryptographic needs in Python.

As an alternative to the libraries that came before it, cryptography
tries to address some of the issues with those libraries:
 - Lack of PyPy and Python 3 support.
 - Lack of maintenance.
 - Use of poor implementations of algorithms (i.e. ones with known
   side-channel attacks).
 - Lack of high level, "Cryptography for humans", APIs.
 - Absence of algorithms such as AES-GCM.
 - Poor introspectability, and thus poor testability.
 - Extremely error prone APIs, and bad defaults.

I will probably be maintaining this in DPMT. The binary package name will be
python-cryptography as per the standard Python naming convention.

Transition of Icedove 24.2.0 to testing

2014-02-01 Thread Carsten Schoenert
Hello release team,

as Mike asked a few days before for Iceweasel, would it be possible to
force the transition of the current Icedove version 24.2.0 from unstable
to testing before Christoph will prepare the package for stable-security?

I'm currently able to build a version for Wheezy but it needs a little
bit further tests before it can be uploaded by Christoph.

Bug#737362: ITP: libcrypt-pbkdf2-perl -- Perl implementation of PBKDF2 password hash algorithm

2014-02-01 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Russ Allbery

* Package name: libcrypt-pbkdf2-perl
  Version : 0.10
  Upstream Author : Andrew Rodland
* URL : http://metacpan.org/release/Crypt-PBKDF2
* License : GPL-1+ or Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Perl implementation of PBKDF2 password hash

PBKDF2 (part of the PKCS#5 standard) is a secure password hashing
algorithm that uses the techniques of "key strengthening" to make the
complexity of a brute-force attack arbitrarily high. This module supports
SHA-1 and SHA-2 as the underlying hash functions natively and can also use
arbitrary Digest-compatible classes. It allows for an arbitrary number
of iterations of the hashing function, and a nearly unlimited output hash
size (up to 2**32 - 1 times the size of the output of the backend hash).
The hash is salted, as any password hash should be, and the salt may also
be of arbitrary size.

There is no record of #1393 in the BTS but it appears that we have a
copy of it in the debian-devel archives:
