That may be the case, but it may still confuse users regardless.

Again: what is wrong on including symlinks to single copy of jQuery?

doxygen generated, is there an equivalent of dh_sphinxdoc for doxygen ?

these are only symlink generated by dh_sphinxdoc thanks to Jakub Wilk :)
Maybe the lintian warning tag about embeded jquery.js gives a better vue
of the real problems.

Inddeed this jquery.js multiplication need to be fixed.

I assume that apt-file finds symlinks too because at a first glance I see my
migrate package in the list. The package contains a symlink to the system
jquery.js.

 ~> ls -la /usr/share/doc/python-migrate/html/_static/jquery.js
 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 46 Mai 17  2012
 /usr/share/doc/python-migrate/html/_static/jquery.js ->
 ../../../../javascript/sphinxdoc/1.0/jquery.js

 ~> ls -la /usr/share/javascript/sphinxdoc/1.0/jquery.js
 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Mai 24  2012
 /usr/share/javascript/sphinxdoc/1.0/jquery.js -> ../../jquery/jquery.js

So IMHO before a mass filing the list should be cleaned from such false
positives.

Best regards
Jan

As others say, many of them are symlinks and thus are OK.

You even missed packages and anything using doxygen has that
problem because of
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=630982.

I agree with the submitter, it doesn't make sense to hunt down such
copies and link them and *hope* it will work. doxygen uses it and should
do it itself.

> to be enough. I wonder if it's time to reject uploads containing jquery.js.

You want to reject any doxygen generated doc? I am sure that will cause
people just *disable* those packages... Which isn't the goal.

Regards,

Rene

Bug#700630: ITP: gitorious -- Git based tool for collaborating on distributed open source projects

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Mike Gabriel

* Package name: gitorious
  Version : 2.4.9
  Upstream Author : supp...@gitorious.org
* URL : http://gitorious.org
* License : AGPL
  Programming Lang: Ruby
  Description : Git based tool for collaborating on distributed open source
projects

 Gitorious provides open source infrastructure for hosting open source projects
 that use Git. The central entity in Gitorious is the project, which contains
one
 or more top-level repositories and any repositories managed by the project's
 contributors.
 .
 This allows you, as a project administrator, to keep an eye on what people are
 working on in their individual clones of your repositories. It also lets you
 merge or provide feedback on their contributions.
 .
 Likewise, as a project contributor, you get a place to host your contributions
 and provide feedback back into the project's ecosystem and easily collaborate
 with others on the same project. You get your own personal clone of the project
 on the site that you can work freely in and a way to package up your changes
 and notify the other project members about your changes.
 .
 Features
 .
Project hosting
Hosting of official project repositories
Hosting of project repository clones
Project wikis
Public merge requests and code review
Project activity timeline
Developer profiles and activity timelines
Built in notification systems
ACLs for projects and repositories
 .
 For more information about professional Gitorious services, please visit the
 gitorious.com web site.
 .
 Gitorious will be package in the team context of the pkg-ruby-extras team.

That's great, thanks for giving this a try. We definitely need more good
packages of self-hosted replacements for popular centralized (and often
proprietary) services out there. gitorious surely qualifies and is very
seldomly seen installed in the wild, other than the "main" instance at
gitorious.org.

On a related matter, do you happen to have any news about gitlab
packaging? I understand it's a "concurrent" of gitorious :-), but AFAICT
from the RFP, it was expected to land under the hood of pkg-ruby-extras
as well.

Thanks for your work,
Cheers.

Very different problem domains, though.

(Granted that was also the case with chromium and git, but there new
projects really wanted their upstream name as source and binary package
names.)
