Bug#511382: ITP: libbio-graphics-perl -- Generate GD images of Bio::Seq objects
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Charles Plessy Package name: libbio-graphics-perl Version : 1.82 Upstream Author : Lincoln Stein URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Bio-Graphics/ License : Same as Perl Programming Lang: Perl Description : Generate GD images of Bio::Seq objects The Bio::Graphics::Panel class provides drawing and formatting services for any object that implements the Bio::SeqFeatureI interface, including Ace::Sequence::Feature, Das::Segment::Feature and Bio::DB::Graphics objects. It can be used to draw sequence annotations, physical (contig) maps, protein domains, or any other type of map in which a set of discrete ranges need to be laid out on the number line. This module will be split out from BioPerl in the next release (1.6). It is needed by Gbrowse, the generic genome browser, for which I am (still) preparing a package. Since BioPerl is already in Debian Med's repository, I will host this module there as well (note that our repository is world-writable for DDs). Bug#511386: ITP: libclass-xsaccessor-perl -- Generate fast XS accessors without runtime compilation
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Damyan Ivanov * Package name: libclass-xsaccessor-perl Version : 0.14 Upstream Author : Steffen Mueller, Chocolateboy, 1 * URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Class-XSAccessor/ * License : same as Perl (Artistic or GPL) Programming Lang: Perl, C Description : Generate fast XS accessors without runtime compilation Class::XSAccessor implements fast read, write and read/write accessors in XS. Additionally, it can provide predicates such as has_foo() for testing whether the attribute foo is defined in the object. It only works with objects that are implemented as ordinary hashes. . The XS accessor methods were between 1.6 and 2.5 times faster than typical pure-perl accessors in some simple benchmarking. If you usually write clear code, a factor of two speed-up is a good estimate. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The package is a dependency of Padre 0.25 and will be maintained under Debian Perl Group's felt hat. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#511388: ITP: libdevel-dumpvar-perl -- Object oriented, pretty dumping of Perl variables
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Damyan Ivanov * Package name: libdevel-dumpvar-perl Version : 0.04 Upstream Author : Adam Kennedy * URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Devel-Dumpvar/ * License : same as Perl (Artistic or GPL) Programming Lang: Perl Description : Object oriented, pretty dumping of Perl variables Most perl dumping modules are focused on serializing data structures into a format that can be rebuilt into the original data structure. They do this with a variety of different focuses, such as human readability, the ability to execute the dumped code directly, or to minimize the size of the dumped data. . Excect for the one contained in the debugger, in the file dumpvar.pl. This is a much more human-readable form, highly useful for debugging, containing a lot of extra information without the burden of needing to allow the dump to be re-assembled into the original data. . The main downside of the dumper in the perl-debugger is that the dumpvar.pl script is not really a readily loadable and useable module. It has dedicated hooks from and to the debugger, and spans across multiple namespaces, including main::. . Devel::Dumpvar is a pure object-orientated reimplementation of the same functionality. This makes it much more versatile version to use for dumping information to debug log files or other uses where you don't need to reassemble the data. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The package is dependency of Padre 0.25 and will be maintained by the Debian Perl Group. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#511410: ITP: dma -- the DragonFly Mail Agent, a lightweight MTA
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Peter Pentchev * Package name: dma Version : 0.0.2009.01.10 Upstream Author : Matthias Schmidt , Simon Schubert * URL : http://www.dragonflybsd.org/ * License : BSD Programming Lang: C Description : the DragonFly Mail Agent, a lightweight MTA The DragonFly Mail Agent is a small Mail Transport Agent (MTA), designed for home and office use. It accepts mails from locally installed Mail User Agents (MUA) and delivers the mails either locally or to a remote destination. Remote delivery includes several features like TLS/SSL support and SMTP authentication. dma is not intended as a replacement for real, big MTAs like sendmail(8) or postfix(1). Consequently, dma does not listen on port 25 for incoming connections. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) pgpfNkk0rAVfu.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#511443: ITP: langupdate -- locate and update translation files using Emdebian TDebs
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Neil Williams Initial upload to experimental until at least after the Lenny release, possibly until the time of the Squeeze release. (This would have been the same even if Lenny had already been released by now.) * Package name: langupdate Version : 0.0.6 Upstream Author : Neil Williams * URL : http://www.emdebian.org/emdebian/langupdate.html * License : GPL-3+ Programming Lang: C, C++ Description : locate and update translation files using Emdebian TDebs Emdebian separates translations from each package to reduce the amount of required installation space. As packages are updated, new translations may be added as well as new packages. . langupdate checks the list of installed packages, calculates the availability of translations for your locale and checks which translations are already installed. langupdate also supports an autoremove mode so that when the list of supported locales changes, redundant translation files can be removed. In due course, langupdate could be usable with Debian TDebs using the draft TDeb specification: http://people.debian.org/~codehelp/tdeb/ but that will take time. Meanwhile, langupdate will help support Emdebian development, with a little help from the experimental auto-builders. :-) Context: http://lists.debian.org/debian-embedded/2009/01/msg00012.html Before release, langupdate will be adapted to work within Debian by checking for the existence of relevant translation files before trying to install an Emdebian TDeb containing the same file. One reason to have langupdate in Debian at this time is to make it simpler to integrate langupdate into Emdebian and easier to mix Debian and Emdebian Grip. In that way, even when installed, langupdate will be a no-op unless the Debian admin has already done some preparation to forcibly remove at least some translation files. (Emdebian comes in two flavours - Grip which is binary-compatible with Debian but smaller {~50%} and Crush which is cross-built with functional differences in the packages and much smaller than Grip. Grip is automatically generated from existing Debian packages without recompiling. Grip does not include all Debian packages - only those that are relevant to devices running Grip.) http://www.emdebian.org/ http://www.emdebian.org/emdebian/flavours.html http://www.emdebian.org/grip/index.html http://www.emdebian.org/packages/index.html Both Grip and Crush are likely to be released alongside Debian 5.0 "Lenny". http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/serendipity/index.php?/archives/144-Emdebian-Grip-Debian,-only-25-smaller.html langupdate uses libapt-pkg-dev and libglib2.0-dev and is a very different model to localepurge: http://lists.debian.org/debian-embedded/2009/01/msg00016.html langupdate can use other mirrors but defaults to the Emdebian TDeb repository, http://www.emdebian.org/locale/ (which itself needs a bit of work before langupdate is actually uploaded to experimental). -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
