Lintian test case author needed (zlib linking)
I'd like to encourage someone who has experience writing test cases for Lintian to create a new one. It should scan .deb files for ELF object files which match one of the following Perl regexps: /inflate ([0-9][ 0-9a-zA-Z.\-]{1,100}[0-9a-zA-Z.\-])/ /deflate ([0-9][ 0-9a-zA-Z.\-]{1,100}[0-9a-zA-Z.\-])/ This is less elaborate than the Clamav checks, but it should be good enough to detect bundled copies of zlib. Hopefully, this enables us to eliminate statically linked copies of zlib early in the development cycle. Is anyone interested in writing such a test case, and work with the Lintian maintainers to integreate it into the package? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Mass bug filing for packages that FTBFS because of changes to texi2html
Howdy, texi2html's behavior changed recently: if it is invoked with -split=chapter, old versions place the HTML files in the same directory as the documentation source, whereas new versions place the generated files in a subdirectory. After I'd filed a few bugs about this, Santiago Vila suggested that I should contact d-d-a instead and allow developers a chance to fix their packages before filing bugs. I checked the packages that build-depend on texi2html and found that 19 of them fail because of this problem (not including the ones I've already filed bugs against). Should I file bugs individually, post to d-d-a, or do something else? -- Matt signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Leaving Debian, Orphaning firebird related packages
Hi All, I have come to the conclusion that my current job and travel time doesn't leave me enough time to do proper maintaining of debian packages. As this situation is not likely to change soon I have decided to give up on maintaining. I regret to leave Debian as it has been a lot of fun to work with this wonderful community. I have orphaned the following packages: ibwebadmin -- Web-based administration for the Firebird and Interbase database php4-interbase -- InterBase (FireBird) module for PHP4 And I will leave the Debian Firebird Group <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> This group is responisible for the firebird database packages. It does however infringe the original's copyright in characters, mise-en-scene, etc., as well as a plethora of literal elements ("Nearly the same look-and-feel", per your linked page). Compare the discussion of OpenTTD at http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2005/05/msg00628.html . And please keep it out of Debian; we have more than enough abandonware clones as it is. - Michael
