Bug#946376: package info uninstallable

2019-12-07 Thread Mechtilde Stehmann
Hello,

for me I could solve the problem.

the reason was a defect file /etc/environment which was written last at
2018-12-29.

I never touched it. There was an imcompletly quoted path. This defined
the path to JAVA_HOME for Java 11.

So I'll close this bug.

Bug#1058698: mozilla-devscripts should be removed from testing/unstable

as an information for the archive:

to build the webext packages, you didn't need mozilla-devscripts.

I used it to build the orig.tar.gz from the xpi in former time.

But it is not necessary any more

Hello Mathias,

thanks for the hint,

At this time mozilla-devscript is needed when you want to build
Mozilla-AddOns from the *.xpi.

So we need to elaborate another way to do it.

I've dropped mozilla-devscripts as an dependency for thunderbird long
ago.
To get the l10n XPI files creatable I picked up the main part of
mozilla-devscripts, the shell script xpi-pack.sh, and placed it within
the debian/ folder.

https://salsa.debian.org/mozilla-team/thunderbird/-/commit/b31360b05e048826571245a2fda26d56592da435

We call this shell script then directly in debian/rules, it's quite
simple and straight forward to use.

https://salsa.debian.org/mozilla-team/thunderbird/-/blob/debian/sid/debian/rules#L134

I think shipping this shell script now in only a few source packages is
acceptable, otherwise we would need to fix mozilla-devscripts with a bit
effort for not really big gain.

Another option could be to move the XPI package build functionaliy into
some debhelper package, but I haven't looked really seriously into any
option.

Carsten

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We will only consider bug reports concerning
the packaging of TeX Live as relevant. If you have problems with
combination of packages in a LaTeX document, please consult your
local TeX User Group, the comp.text.tex user group, the author of
the original .sty file, or any other help resource.

In particular, bugs that are related to up-upstream, i.e., neither
Debian nor TeX Live (upstream), but the original package authors,
will be closed immediately.

*** The Debian TeX Team is *not* a LaTeX Help Desk ***

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report.

Please run your example with
(pdf)latex -recorder ...
(or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated
file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during
the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in
your home directory.

Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are
needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of

you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that

Bug#569002: libmysql-java: Connection to OpenOffice.org failed

You need a working mysql-server

I tried it with a mysql-server from stable.

there you need a testdatabase with a table

I installed libmysql-java at the client under Squeeze where also is
installed OpenOffice.org

Then:
Open OpenOffice.org Base
Choose "Connection to an existing database"
Choose MySQL in the listbox -> Continue
Choose Java Database Connectivity -> Continue
Input Database name and Database server -> Continue
Input User name and if password required -> Continue
-> Finish
then save this *.odb file

open this *.odb file and choose Tables
input your user name and password if required
then you get the error message

Bug#1083279: biber: can't build debian-package-book-* with pbuilder anymore because aof missing dependency

2024-10-03 Thread Mechtilde Stehmann
Package: biber
Version: 2.20-2
Severity: serious
Tags: ftbfs
Justification: fails to build from source
X-Debbugs-Cc: gre...@debian.org, mechti...@debian.org

Hello,

While updating the package 'debian-package-book-*"

https://salsa.debian.org/ddp-team/dpb

I strumple about the following problem.

When I build in pbuilder I get the message:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libtext-csv-xs-perl : Depends: libencode-perl (>= 3.20) but it is not going to
be installed
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

 Install the following packages:
1) libencode-perl [3.21-1+b1 (unstable)]

But it isn't installable. so the build failed

If I use a hook an install this package manually it works.

It also works If I build with sbuild.

Kind regards

Mechtilde

It builds reproducible. For me it builds with gcc-14

Kind regards

Bug#1103901: locales-all: Only locales with UTF-8 available

2025-04-22 Thread Mechtilde Stehmann
Package: locales-all
Version: 2.41-7
Severity: grave
Tags: a11y d-i
Justification: renders package unusable
X-Debbugs-Cc: mechti...@debian.org, debian-b...@lists.debian.org

After a reboot last week I have problems using a terminal. There is no
difference between tty 1-6 or under XFCE4. The display for eg. German special
characters failed.

I already tried 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales' but I can only choose
de_DE.UTF-8.

Example: I get 'fr' instead of 'für'

I set severity to grave because it is in the freeze for trixie.

Kind regards
