Bug#568401: gnome-core: Problem logging out / shutting down / restarting system from gnome for all users including root.

2010-02-04 Thread Aditya
Package: gnome-core
Version: 1:2.22.2~5
Severity: important

I freshly installed Debian Lenny x86 with net installation CD and am
experiencing problem logging out / shutting down / restarting the system from
the
"System" menu. When I click appropriate menu item to log out nothing happens
until I open some application (except nautilus). When this other
application window opens, the system logs me out successfully. Same issue is
experieneced with shutdown and restart. Root user as well as standard
user accounts have this problem.

I installed OS using net install cd and did not select "Desktop" in task
selection. Once into command line system, I installed backported kernel
2.6.30-bpo.2-bigmem, firmware-iwlwifi and wireless tools for iwlagn. Then I
installed gnome-core, gdm, gnome-backgrounds, gnome-themes,
gnome-themes-extras and iceweasel. None of these packages were installed from
lenny-backports. I also installed NVidia driver (not using debian way). There
are no other
packages installed on the system (it is absolutely a fresh install).

I had the same setup earlier on the same computer and never had this problem.
The only difference I know of is that the earlier system was installed
using Debian install CD 1. Even there, I did not select "Desktop" task,
essentially followed the same procedure outlined above.

Bug#940911: Face this issue with Debian bullseye install on external disk

2021-03-03 Thread Aditya

Hi,

Trying to boot Debian Bullseye installed in an external drive, I face
the same. This is on a laptop with AMD Zen 2 CPU. Unable to boot due to
this issue.

As a workaround, I add the rmmod tpm line as suggested in Ubuntu bug
report posted by Hervé in #17 comment.

I believe this should be added as a release critical bug for Bullseye:
https://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/other/testing.html

Thanks

Bug#673087: RFS: the-powder-toy/78.1-1 [ITP] -- Physics sandbox game

2012-10-12 Thread Aditya Vaidya
Hello,

Thanks for your review and your interest. :)

Upstream just switched their codebase from C to C++, so I need to fix all
of my packaging and update it to work well. However, they have not figured
out a way to "release" version numbers through tags/commits - they don't
keep the version number in the code yet. As soon as they do that
(preferably through tags), I'll update the package and put it pack up here
for sponsorship.

Also, thank you for reviewing my package and providing me the warnings. I'm
not sure how I didn't see those Lintian errors before.

One last thing:

Andreas,
How can I commit the package to the pkg-games VCS?

Sincerely,
kroq-gar78

Bug#673087: RFS: the-powder-toy/78.1-1 [ITP] -- Physics sandbox game

2012-09-24 Thread Aditya Vaidya
Hello,

I've updated the package with the latest upstream release and uploaded it
to Debian Mentors.

The DSC file is at
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/t/the-powder-toy/the-powder-toy_83.0-1.dsc

So, you can run

dget -x "
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/t/the-powder-toy/the-powder-toy_83.0-1.dsc
"

to download the latest release.

Please review this package version instead of the one mentioned earlier.
This one should be lintian and pbuilder clean (with the exception of a
watch file, which can't be done here).

Thanks for your consideration!

Sincerely,
Aditya Vaidya

Bug#673087: RFS: the-powder-toy/78.1-1 [ITP] -- Physics sandbox game

2012-07-03 Thread Aditya Vaidya
Hello Benoit,

Thanks for reviewing my package, and I'm sorry about not committing the
newest .orig.tar.bz2 in pristine-tar and pushing it. Upstream just released
a new stable version today, and I've just committed the latest tarball to
the 'pristine-tar' branch and pushed it, along with an updated Debian
packaging, to [1]. I've fixed most of the lintian warnings that you had
posted about, but I couldn't replicate these three warnings with running
the command "lintian -I -E --pedantic ../the-powder-toy_78.1-0~ppa2.dsc
../the-powder-toy_78.1-0~ppa2_source.changes". Here are warnings I couldn't
find:

  W: the-powder-toy source: unknown-field-in-dsc original-maintainer
  I: the-powder-toy source: debian-watch-file-is-missing
  I: the-powder-toy: spelling-error-in-binary
usr/lib/games/the-powder-toy/powder targetted targeted

Yes, I did use the tag 'debian/78.1-0ppa2' (I just changed the version from
'78.1-0~ppa2' to '78.1-1' and then submitted it) and still I couldn't
replicate the results. As I said, I fixed all but one of the Lintian errors
I could find in the latest version. Upstream uses a strange tagging name
format: 'build<#>', where <#> is a number (currently 183), so I decided
against creating a watch file for two reasons:

1. uscan would find a new tag and think it's stable when, in fact, it's a
beta release
2. I don't version the package that way, and nor does upstream; we use
'81.1', not '183'.

Since I've fixed all of the errors I could find and fix, should I make
another upload to Mentors, or will you review the package as it is in [1]?

Thanks for your consideration.

So should there be a zsnes-doc package or not? I'm willing to provide a
simple patch (if you don't want to do it) that does this if you people
decide that there should be a zsnes-doc package.

Bug#623950: RFP: asm4 -- Java bytecode manipulation framework

2012-08-01 Thread Aditya Vaidya
Hello,

I've been looking to packaging this for the past few days so that LWJGL can
be updated, and I think I've run into a problem. When simply copying the
"debian/" directory from 'asm3' and renaming the packages (and other
things) from 'libasm3' to 'libasm4', it fails to compile with this error:

BUILD FAILED
/tmp/buildd/asm4-4.0/build.xml:539: The following error occurred while
executing this line:
/tmp/buildd/asm4-4.0/test/build.xml:233: taskdef class
com.sun.tdk.signaturetest.ant.ATest cannot be found
 using the classloader AntClassLoader[]

After some investigating, I found that it needs some JAR file called
"sigtest.jar", which I've found. However, I know that having libraries
inside other libraries (pre-compiled ones, that is) is frowned upon (well,
as far as I know they are), which I create an ITP for "sigtest"? That'll
allow me to have a Build-Dependency on it, and then I can avoid including a
pre-built JAR in the program.

So, should I create an ITP for "sigtest" in order to get this package
created?

Sincerely,
Aditya Vaidya

Bug#703739: tar: completion with -df, -tf, and -xf don't support spaces in file name

2013-03-22 Thread Aditya Vaidya
Package: bash-completion
Version: 1:1.3-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu raring ubuntu-patch

Forwarded from Launchpad (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1019217):
If a file has a space in its name and either -df, -tf, or -xf are used on the
file while the user is using tab completion, it fails to add an escape
character, so 'tar' treats it as two separate files. Because of this,
tab-completion can't properly be used with the options -cf, -df, or -tf with
tar. This can be a very large problem for inexperienced users, as some won't
know that escape characters are supposed to be used, if they even know what
they are.

-df: lists the differences between archives
-tf: lists contents of archive
-xf: extracts archive

In Ubuntu Precise 12.04, the attached patch was used to achieve the following:

  * debian/patches/tar-spaces.patch: use escape characters with spaces
for options -d, -t, and -x (LP: #1019217)

Thanks for considering the patch.

Bug#673087: RFS: the-powder-toy/78.1-1 [ITP] -- Physics sandbox game

2013-02-17 Thread Aditya Vaidya
Hello again,

It's been a while, and I've been working on the package a little. I finally
have most of the package working well, and I'll see if I can get it on
Mentors sometime, as I have a long week ahead of me.

Anyway, the main reason I'm writing this is to ask whether the package
should be called "the-powder-toy" or simply "powder-toy" (or "powdertoy"?).
I'm wondering this because I dropped by the Arch User Repository and saw
that the package was indeed called "powder-toy", omitting the "the" (yes, I
know Debian isn't dependent on what AUR people do, but it got me thinking).
The only reason I've had "the" in the package name is because I took an old
packaging of the game from a Launchpad PPA [1] and simply went from there,
not giving much thought to the article at the beginning of the name. and
I'm not sure what's Debian's policy about articles at the beginning of
package names.

Thanks in advance!

I've removed the update checker, but the MOTD retriever is still
implemented, as I see no harm in that. However, if you (or someone else)
feel that there's a problem with this, I'll remove it.

Well, the executable is named "powder", but the git repo upstream it called
"The-Powder-Toy". I'll ask upstream if they have any preference over the
two, and then I'll get back to you guys.

Hello,

I'm kinda jumping in here, but I think "This is a" should be removed from
the package's short description.

Sincerely,
kroq-gar78
I will implement those for 1.0-5. Sorry since I'm a new guy for Debian (not
for Ubuntu).

Hello,

I've decided to rename the package to "powdertoy" after asking upstream.

I'll also push the git repo to the Games Team VCS after this is done.

Bug#665820: Update to my original patch - one more typo

2012-03-27 Thread Aditya Vaidya
I have an update to my original patch here. While browsing through this
patch, I realized that there is another typo: "intregral" (in the line
right above the original typo in every instance)

So, here is the patch to fix "intregral" along with the "low-ressource"
typo:

Dear Maintainer,

Originally from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cortina/+bug/997880:

The debian/watch file uses an old format of the Cortina source download
filename.

Currently, it is:
http://sf.net/cortina/cortina-(.*)\.tar\.gz

It should be:
http://sf.net/cortina/cortina_(.*)\.tar\.gz

Basically, the hyphen should be an underscore.

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * debian/watch: fix base URL

Thanks for considering the patch.

On a side note, upstream now provides their own .deb packages for Ubuntu
releases (http://sourceforge.net/projects/cortina/files/).
 Sincerely,
kroq-gar78

- You must have these packages to make full use of all extensions and effects.

Bug#668571: arp manpage typo and bad author email

2012-04-12 Thread Aditya Vaidya
Package: net-tools
Version: 1.60-24.1

Forwarded from Launchpad:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/net-tools/+bug/945337

The examples header in the manpage for the arp command is spelled
"Exsamples", where it should be "Examples". Also, the first author's
e-mail address (Fred N. van Kempen, no longer exists; mail returned, domain name not
found).

The error for the manpage seems to be in a patch. It changes "EXAMPLES"
to "EXSAMPLES", creating the typo.

Bug#854837: Package dicompyler does not work

2017-03-13 Thread Aditya Panchal
Hello,

Please find an updated version of dicompyler in the dependencyupdate branch
of the dicompyler github repo:

https://github.com/bastula/dicompyler/tree/dependencyupdate

Currently it has been tested on Mac OS. There will be ongoing work on this
branch to make dicompyler compatible with Windows and Linux.

The requirements have been updated to:

- Python 2.7 or higher (not tested on Python 3)
- wxPython 3.0.2.0 (not tested on wxPython Phoenix)
- matplotlib 1.3 to 1.5.1
- numpy 1.2 or higher
- Pillow 1.0 or higher
- dicompyler-core 0.5.2 or higher
- pydicom 0.9.9 or higher

as specified in the updated setup.py.

Hopefully there are good results in testing.

Bug#854837: Does not work with recent development tools (#101)

2017-03-10 Thread Aditya Panchal
Hi Andreas,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Actually since you originally
pinged me, I have been working on a set of changes that are inclusive of the
original Debian patches as well as other contributions. It will be pushed to
the dependencyupdate branch here on github. I will reply to this issue once it
has been pushed. The dependencies have been all updated to recent versions.

Currently dicompyler is working as expected with the updated dependencies on
Mac. I am currently troubleshooting Windows and expect to have the issue fixed
by this weekend. We can then test for Debian compatibility.

Thank you for your patience.

Bug#788346:

2017-06-09 Thread Aditya Vaidya
I am on Wheezy right now and can confirm this behavior (same version of the
package). "/bin/sh" links to "/bin/dash", which also completes non-.sh
files like bash. I think both "/bin/sh" and "/bin/dash" should have the
same completion behavior because they're the same executable.

I'd imagine the behavior is different because upstream did not want to
assume that "sh" links to "dash". This is a bit of a side question, but
would it be a good idea to make "sh" use the same completion as "dash" on
Debian?

Sincerely,
Aditya Vaidya

Bug#833059:

2017-06-09 Thread Aditya Vaidya
I'm on Wheezy with bash-completion version 2.1-4 and I can confirm. I
believe I have also narrowed the bug down.

This lists files in root:

$ du --exclude=asdf /

But this (with quotes) does not:

$ du --exclude="asdf" /

After a quick survey, it seems like it happens to all options that have an
equals sign (=) in them.

Sincerely,
Aditya Vaidya

It allows to open stuff webpages and files executable and cross-platform.
It can also be used programatically while writing a program. Plus, it
returns the child process created, so you can do things like let your

 .
 Node.js is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
.
This package is suitable for adding to Debian because as stated in the
https://www.npmjs/opener.com page Windows has start, Macs have open so
opener for Debian and also as given in the description it can help the user
to open webpages files executable open editors and can also be used while
writing programs.along with it installation of the package is also simple.

No there are no packages on which opener depends.
.
To the best of my knowledge there no similar package in Debian that gives
the privileges to the users that opener provides till now. Although there
are commands that can be used to open webpages, editors etc but opener can
be used for opening webpages, editors etc withou the use of separate
commands.
.
I hope to join the JavaScript team and plan to maintain it constantly when
new versions of it releases and when there are any bug issues. I want to
join the JavaScript maintainers team. Yes I need a sponsor for this package
and and Praveen has agreed to sponsor the package.
