Bug#377187: lucene2 packages
I've packaged lucene 2.1 as a separate package. The core .jar and most contrib .jars are included, as well as class docs. Some of the contrib .jars need java libraries which are not in Debian, so I can't include those. You can find my work at http://www.vanbest.org/janpascal/debian/lucene/ Please let me know of any deficiencies, both in the package itself and Debian policy-wise. How do I go on from here? Bug#720924: RFS: spotweb/20130826+dfsg-1~pre6 [RC]
Hi Vincent, Thank you for your review! debian/copyright: - missing license entry for images/ttf/liberation-sans/* (even if you don't ship the embedded font files, if they're in the source tarball, they need to be acknowledged in debian/copyright) Thanks for spotting this. An earlier version if the upstream package shipped non-free font files, which I had removed from the dfsg source. Looking at the license file in images/ttf/liberation-sans/License.txt, it looks like these, too, may need to be considered non-free, since it contains export control limitations in section 3. (these are not present in the copyright text of the Debian ttf-liberation font package). I can either move the license text to debian/copyright (including the export control limitations), or completely remove the font files from the dfsg source package. Which would you advise? - your "License: Apache-2" standalone section is incomplete; you should include the text of Apache 2.0's Appendix (i.e. the license header in lib/notifications/prowl/*)A Fixed. Nice to have: debian/changelog: Please collapse all your newest changelogs into a single one Done. debian/control: Consider depending on libapache2-mod-php5 | php5 and php5-mysql | php5-mysqlnd Wouldn't depending on libapache2-mod-php5 | php5 cause apt-get to allow installing spotweb on systems having just apache2 and php5-cli? Bug#646747: [BTS#646747] templates://spotweb/{spotweb.templates} : Final update for English review
Christian and others, Thanks you for your work on finding the proper wording for the debconf templates for spotweb. I have just a few remarks. 1. In spotweb.templates: Template: spotweb/postserver Type: string Default: _Description: NNTP "post" server: Please enter the news server that should be used for posting articles with Spotweb. The word 'articles' is too generic I think. Better wording would be Please enter the news server that should be used for uploading spots with Spotweb. Since in this context, a 'spot' is a news article that contains information about a binary in one of the news groups. The setting is to indicate which news server should be used when the user uploads a spot to help other users find the indicated binary. 2. The capitalisation of the name of the application is not quite consistent upstream. For Debian I think we should choose "SpotWeb" (in camel case), since that seems to be used most by upstream. The debconf templates contain one or more instances of "Spotweb". Bug#698769: Seconded (was: RFP: caldavzap)
I second this RFP. Very useful piece of software for which there is no real alternative, AFAIK. Copyright situation looks clear, dependencies nicely contained in the /lib folder. The SSL spec says that the SSL server should send its own cert first, next (in order) all higher-level certs up to the root CA. Reordering certs in the Apache "SSLCertificateChainFile" did the trick. Apparently GnuTLS adheres more strictly to the SSL spec than OpenSSL. What happened to 'Be conservative in what you send, liberal in what you accept' (Postel's law) and RFC1122? I'll close this bug report. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#720924: Spotweb: new release 20130826+dfsg-1~pre5
Dear mentors, I've uploaded a new release of the spotweb package to mentors. It fixes a bug recently reported against the package: * Change dependency to fonts-liberation. Closes: #722404 Earlier changes: * Note: the ~pre changelog entries will be merged before upload to Debian * New upstream version (v20130826) * Updated debian/copyright * Update README.source and get-orig-source * Removed debian/po, not needed any more. Closes: #662123, #718528 * Add upstream changelog * Updates for Apache 2.4 configuration snippets. Closes: #669806 * Have dbconfig-common handle database upgrades * Use Debian-supplied jquery-form javascript library instead of upstream embedded version. * Remove upstream embedded font files, use Debian-packaged fonts instead. * The news server information is now maintained in the spotweb database, and not in the configuration files. That means you will need to configure your news server information again (admin/config/settings/newsservers). * Disable Notifo notifications, the service has been discontinued. * Do not exit postinst script with error if database update fails. Closes: #709877 I'd appreciate your reviewing the package and, if deemed worthy, upload this new release to Debian. Both of them I believe can be ignored: - Experimental error on symlinks to javascript libraries (probably resulting from lintian bug#672297) - Unknown version on NEWS entry (because I already use the version number to be released to Debian) Cheers Jan-Pascal -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#802917: do not migrate denyhosts to testing: who will do security support?
Hi Helmut, Thanks for showing some care for this package. The main reason for me to want to support denyhosts was the possibility of the synchronisation server. I have since written a (AGPL licensed) replacement for the original, closed source, server, starting from Anne Bezemer's suggestion in Debian bug#622697. I may consider offering to do the security support for denyhosts for at least the stretch support period, but I'm not sure what that would mean exactly. Is the main work in following CNEs for the package and fixing them for Debian (and preferably upstream as well)? Another possibility might be to work with fail2ban upstream to also support my, or another, synchronisation server, but I'm not sure if they would be willing to accept patches to that effect. > * Your upload reintroduces security bug #692229. Status so far (release 1.1.0-0jp2): - Web servlet installs and works under tomcat 5.5 on one machine, but has trouble finding the lucene class files on another - .jar-files in upstream source are replaced with .jars in /usr/share/java (from existing Debian packages) - builds with pbuilder - one lintian warning left Still to do: - install replication scripts - move solr configuration and schema files to /etc/solr - install minimal set of configuration files (instead of those from the demo installation) - better check all copyright notices - look into providing a separate demo installation, or supply the demo files under /usr/share/doc/solr Package repository: http://www.vanbest.org/debian/ SVN repository (read-only): http://svn.vanbest.org/svn/solr Websvn: http://svn.vanbest.org/websvn/listing.php?repname=solr Cheers Jan-Pascal signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

I've started work on packaging phpesp. I'm using webapps-common, which is not in the pool yet, so the phpesp package will probably start its life in experimental, or outside of the pool altogether. Bug#468334: gcj-4.3: fails running unit tests from Lucene package where Sun JDK works
Package: gcj-4.3 Version: 4.3-20080202-1 Severity: normal The Lucene package contains a large number of unit tests. All tests succeed when building using Sun JDK 5. When building using gcj-4.3 (with gcj-java-compat-dev from unstable), quite a few unit tests fail. Upon a suggestion by Michael Koch I'm filing a bug report to gcj with this issue, in the hope of pointing to more concrete bugs in gcj. Way to reproduce: $ apt-get source lucene2 $ cd lucene2-2.3.0+ds1 (install dependencies including sun-java5-jdk) $ debuild -i -us -uc (observe the package builds without errors) $ vi debian/rules (change JAVA_HOME to /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj and :wq) $ debuild -i -us -uc (observe unit test failures in build log) I'll attach a list of the failed test cases as a reply to this bug. Bug#443382: solr-tomcat5.5 fails: problem seems to be in Tomcat
The problem seems to be that recent Tomcat versions still package a few Java 1.4 compatibility .jars in /usr/share/tomcat5.5/common/endorsed. This prevents Tomcat from loading XPathFactory. (see http://www.openrdf.org/forum/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=1328). Removing the two .jars fixes the problem for Solr, but it may cause problems for other applications or other VMs. Jan-Pascal

Bug#433636: gij-4.1 broken, gij-4.2 OK
Hi, Sorry for the delay. When I compile with gcj 4.1 and then run with gij-4.1, I get the error. If I run the same class file with gij-4.2, everything's OK. It looks like the issue is (or was) in the classpath libs, in java/util/Calendar.java. The gcj4.2-src source package has some extra statements in the setTimeZone method compared to gcj-src that (to me) seem to make the difference. Cheers Jan-Pascal
Bug#436680: ant: rmic task with kaffe rmic fails
Package: ant Version: 1.7.0-2 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi all, When building Lucene using gcj I came across the following problem. The ant rmic task calls rmic as an external process. When constructing the command line, the "-verbose" options is added AFTER the classes to handle. The rmic documentation however states that all options must come BEFORE the list of classes. It seems Sun's rmic doesn't care, but the gcj/kaffe rmic does. The issue is in the execute() method of the org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.rmic.KaffeRmic class. Patch attached. TestDateTools.java contains the failing unit test in the Lucene 2.2.0 source. This bug only occurs with with tomcat5.5_5.5.23-1 (lenny/sid), not with 5.5.20-2 (stable). Bug#488895: please move to main
> As far as I can (publically) see the need for contrib arises because it > uses libdb-je-java. The main reason is that lucene2 fails a number of unit tests when running with java-gcj-compat, e.g. for the indexing of dates. See bug #468334. This has been deemed serious enough to put lucene2 into contrib. What I thinks needs to be done is look into the unit test failures more closely, try to isolate java-gcj-compat bugs (or at least incompatibilities with sun-java5/6) and try to have those bugs resolved. Unfortunately, that will be quite a bit of work which I don't have time for now. I'm a bit reluctant to move lucene2 into main while we know it doesn't work properly with java-gcj-compat, but I'll let Michael overrule me... You can find the most recent version at svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-java/trunk/solr/ (websvn at http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-java/trunk/solr/) The main thing holding back Solr 1.3 is that it depends on Jetty6, which isn't in Debian yet. When using the Debian package from upstream (which can't be in Debian because it includes a ton of libraries), Solr builds but it fails on a number of unit tests (org.apache.solr.servlet.CacheHeaderTest, org.apache.solr.servlet.NoCacheHeaderTest, org.apache.solr.client.solrj.embedded.JettyWebappTest, org.apache.solr.client.solrj.embedded.LargeVolumeJettyTest and possibly more). Jetty6 for Debian is a work in progress, depending in turn on the maven-debian-helper and a large number of dependencies. I'm working on fixing the unit tests; if you're interested I think you could help there. We can split up the failed unit tests between us and see how we go. Alternatively, you could help out Torsten Werner in his work on packaging Jetty6 (see bug# 425152). I'll be away after tomorrow until Monday, feel free to look around, try to build the latest version from svn, reproduce the unit test failures and see if you can add patches that address them. We can discuss after Monday. Thanks again for your offer of help! Kind regards, Jan-Pascal -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#472802: limesurvey: looking at it
Hi there, As I'm interested in using this package in production, I am willing to spend some time fixing the packaging. I'm a Debian Maintainer with some experience mostly with Java packages. I'll commit my work to collab-maint when I get to something installable that kind-of works. Solr is moving too fast, and accumulating too many dependencies (which have their own dependencies, and so on) to be maintained properly right now. If we can package 1.4, including all dependencies, before the Squeeze release, I that that should be OK. For the short term, changing the depends on either Solr, or including a Breaks: in lucene should do. Bug#558184: lucene2 nug#558184: missing OSGi metadata, package in experimental
Hi Niels et.al., I've been trying to get proper OSGi manifests for Lucene. The manifest I've come up with for the core library is shown below. The Eclipse build system still doesn't seem to like it though: [java] !SUBENTRY 2 org.eclipse.help.base 2 0 2009-12-24 09:43:15.838 [java] !MESSAGE Missing required bundle org.apache.lucene_[1.9.1,2.0.0). Could you please have a look at them? Cheers Jan-Pascal The MANIFEST.MF I've created: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.7.1 Created-By: 14.0-b16 (Sun Microsystems Inc.) Bug#902393: ITP: motioneye -- web-based frontend for motion
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Jan-Pascal van Best * Package name: motioneye Version : 0.39.1 Upstream Author : Calin Crisan * URL : https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneye * License : GPL Programming Lang: Python, HMTL, JavaScript Description : web-based frontend for motion A web frontend for the motion daemon, written in Python: - web-based, mobile/tablet-friendly user interface - compatible with most USB cameras and the Raspberry PI camera module - support for IP (network) cameras - motion detection with email notifications and working schedule - JPEG files for still images, AVI files for videos - timelapse movies - uploading media files to Google Drive and Dropbox This package is present in deb-multimedia. I've enhanced the packaging in many ways, e.g. - Update debian/copyright for embedded fonts and JavaScript libraries - Provide source for minified JavaScript - Provide source for MavenPro font - Replace embedded JavaScript with symlinks to existant packages - Run motioneye as separate user instead of root - Provide manpage for meyectl motioneye is a light and practical web front-end to motion. I know of no other such frontends. I've been using motioneye myself for a while, and I would prefer the package to be in good shape and in Debian proper. I am a DM with ample experience, but I will need a sponsor. The package might be maintained in the Python Apps packaging teams, or maybe in collaboration with the maintainer of the motion package. Bug#903001: O: spotweb -- web interface to search and filter Usenet spots
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the spotweb package. The package in the repository is severely outdated. Because of many (new) dependencies and because upstream tends to embrace-and-extend dependencies, updating the packaging to the latest upstream will be more work than I can afford to put into this package. Spotweb has a low popcon, so it won't be missed by many people. Thanks Jan-Pascal The package description is: SpotWeb is a web-based version of the decentralized news-indexing system SpotNet, which fetches Usenet "spots" - postings that contain information about uploaded binaries. SpotWeb allows searching, filtering, and viewing of the spots and comments. It integrates with NZB downloaders such as NZBget and SABnzbd+ to download the binaries from Usenet.
