We had a discussion about the licensing some time ago; the license is not GPL, but it still seems to be compatible with the GPL, and after consulting Richard Stallman we concluded it's OK to use OSF Mach. If you would like to work on a port of Mach to the PowerPC, then you should probably choose this project. Unfortunately I've been too busy to work on it for the last months, and I haven't heard from José in a while either, so some help would be very welcome. Hurd on Mach does not run on ppc, AFAIK. I think a couple of efforts were made in that direction, but fizzled out. l4 does run on pcc. But Hurd doesn't run on l4 yet. You can help make Hurd on l4 happen (check out the l4-hurd mailing list).
