Hey Stephane, can you specify what you mean by "The Linux Desktop" ? As far as I am aware, there is no such thing. There are X Desktop Environments / Window Managers and Wayland Compositors. By your wording, I'll assume you are looking to gather this Information trough the Wayland protocol it
