I also tested my Dell 1555 with the kernel of Lucid, but the result is
not positive. Although brightness, lid and eject button work correctly,
I have problems with the thermal sensors. After resuming the machine,
the sensors cannot be read (acpi -t reports 0 C) and thus the fans never
start. As a r
Yes, that seems to be OK. I have something similar, but after a suspend-resume
cycle, I always get:
Thermal 0: ok, 0.0 degrees C
Thermal 1: ok, 0.0 degrees C
Thermal 2: ok, 0.0 degrees C
And I could not find any way (except reboot) to solve the problem. Do
you have the same symptom after resume?
I made a separate bug report for the thermal problems of Lucid's 2.6.32
kernel. You can follow the story here:

In my case it seems to be related to udev. If I stop it I can burn CDs
successfully with brasero.

@Pfanne
I think that the simplest way is to stay with the latest working kernel
(2.6.32-20.29). If you lock it (e.g. in Synaptic) until a solution
comes, you won't be bothered by kernel upgrades.

1. Manually download the debs
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/linux/)
2. Install them with your favoured program (e.g. gdebi-gtk, dpkg)
3. Boot it
4. Delete the unnecessary packages, and lock 2.6.32-20.29

I tried several possibilities, but the problem remained. However note
that I could not apply the quirks described in #26 since Lucid now has a
different version of pm-utils (1.3.0).
Anyway, thanks.
