Sitsofe:
good news :)
first : the difference with vga=795 is... that the console is to slwww
;)
Appart from that, no change.
Now, the good news : I ran the X server using option "-logverbose 5".
There, I've seen that, as previous, the driver was reporting 2 screens instead
of one.

Hi,
Yes the open source drivers are OK... I guess this is more an nvidia bug
than ubuntu related, after all...

It is actually much much better to fix the package, I agree : I'm actually
unable to install hardy because of this conflict (well, I'm going to try not to
download updates, to see if it helps...).
Grub fails to install, and so do (m)any other debs, apparently. I'm glad I'm
trying that install in
Hi,
I think bug 115102 is not a duplicate of this one : in that bug, I found
a workaround that is : either plug the monitor on the second display
connector as the nvidia drivers wrongly detect VGA/DVI order (or
something like that, but result is that if there's no display, it's
because it's beeing

Hi tried disabling EDID : same thing...
using the nvidia .run installed driver (I removed the nvidia-glx-new and
restricted drivers) : I copied the EDID I got from the NV driver into a binary
file, and used it in the nvidia driver using option CustomEDID - this time, it
detects the monitor (i.e

Hi,
I don't seem to be affected a lot by this (ot so I think), but this is still a
bug (as reported in other bugs, it could be also the card bios that's wrong) :
I have a Geforce 7300 GT card from Albatron, which is reported by the kernel
and any xorg driver as a Geforce 7

Mmmh... I finally decided to start m$ OS : it's also reporting a 7600GS card.
The only place I can see it's a 7300GT card is at boot, where the graphic card
bios loads.
I finally may indeed have this kind of card - 7600GS seems anyway
similar to to 7300GT, so I guess this is probably not a linux/

Mmmhhh... good question ;)
I had downloaded latest nvidia installer, but it seems to me I did only use the

MMhhh OK, then I won't go for th emanual install for now then :]
I didn't tell you : I already edited my grub menu when I saw in other bugs
there could be a problem with the consoles and the nvidia driver.

Well, I have the generic kernel installed also, but did not see a boost when
launching it ;)
I'll try the nvidia drivers with the generic kernel also, I can't remember if I
already tried...

Hi,
I just hit this bug with konqueror under an up-to-date feisty box : I
tried to connect to an OVH ftp using just the ftp://ftp.hostname.net :
it asked for a username/pass , then asked again, and then "failed to
dwitch to the directory". It also said "please fill in a bug" ;)
I finally tried to
OK, Just fixed that locally...
As root, change in /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt_check.py , on line 84 :
"if options.security_updates_unattended:"
to :
"if options and options.security_updates_unattended:"
Then kill update notifier, restart it... and icon magically appears

Hmmm...
Also, you need to change in the autostart command file to check for *something*
to upgrade, otherwise the notifier will apparently never attempt to update
anything...

Exec=update-notifier-kde

Well, I don't know what's really correct or not, but when I have updates ready,
I have this little green icon popping up (now).
And when this is the case, I can see in the processes list :
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kpackagekitsmarticon
If I do remove a repository (I used ppa), then icon disappears,
I also suffer from this I do not even notice anything, I see no pop up :
that's really as if there was no more notification !
Also, killing the update-notifier-kde process and then launching it from
command line does not help and does not show anything in the task bar...
