Okay, I found the problem:
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, the three lines adding the tablet were commented
out (the one's marked below with "<") - after removing the leading
'#' and restarting X the stylus works. - Yay

Apart from being able to confirm the issue with gutsy on an X60 Tablet,
I'd also vote for a higher importance. :) But I can see that You still

It turns out that it's not a complete lock up, but that there is no refresh
happening, even though the system keeps running.
More details on the symptoms:
* screen freezes (all/any open windows stay completely unchanged)
* The mouse pointer still moves
* With the screen unchanged, the mouse point

sorry for not following up on this.
For some reason an update had disabled my input device (I can't think of
anything else that would have triggered this..) I have been able to
re-enable it in the sound preferences and had no more trouble since.
BTW: I have a Lenovo Think Pad Edge 13"

Okay, found a mouse and the behaviour is the same
More information on that one:
It is only button1 that is affected and it is the same with the touchpad
or a mouse.
A usb mouse plugged in will work at first, but then lose the use of the
left (Button1) mouse button, as verified using
xev | grep
