I will this week finally get around to sending an update on the Breaking
News program which is actually a web reader.
This version, 3.0, allows quick direct contact with the web site by just
hitting the enter key, but the best part about it is the added feature to
also download files and save it on your hard drive, or logical drive.
The Breaking News app comes up with a Tree View list of any web sites
you want to have at hand to look at and read.
Features:
The Enter key takes you to the web site as if you clicked on a link.
Shift Enter downloads that web page and places all text inside an edit box
with links on the web page stated as Link=1 or any number in sequence as
seen on the web page.
You can also edit that web page by hitting the ctrl-E hotkey. It toggles
so you can go back to read only, thus allowing the same Enter key hotkeys or
any hotkey to function on any link shown that also is provided in the Tree
View.
Alt Enter lists the web page links after downloading them, it is not an edit
box, just a list.
F5 to F9 are for the forward and back features that a standard Alt-Left and
Alt-Right provide on a web browser, which also works in this app. The F keys
are history pointers to allow you to even skip the back and choose any
previous or next page already viewed by you.
The download feature:
I added the ctrl-S hotkey to allow you to download any files on the web page
that the link points to.
You are taken to the brows control, just like any file save will have
with the file name you selected entered into the field.
At this point you can enter the path yourself and tab to the save button or
you can Alt-Tab back to the folder lists and brows for your folder to store
the file in.
Once you are on the folder name to save the file, then hit the Enter key. It
will take you inside the folder, but do nothing, just tab over and hit the
save button.
It then prompts up and Yes or No or Quit that displays the path and file
name, to allow you to say you are happy with the save point and just hit the
default yes and it will start saving it.
Every 10 seconds you will get a mesage saying it is saving the file; unable
to find a progress bar for ADU binary downloads since it is locked up until
download is complete.
Once it is saved the path you selected is still present and any other files
selected will also go into the same folder until you change it or quit the
app.
So, this is my latest update on it and will have it ready by tonight and
get everyone started with a better Breaking News app.
Sorry, but still do not check web sites yet for updates, not enough time,
but version 3.1 will have it.
