hi :-) i tried the yesterday cvs version of screen for getting the new features :-) great work!!
i compared the old version (default of ubuntu 7.04) (screen 4.00.03 (FAU) 23-Oct-06) with the yesterdays version (4.00.03jw4 (FAU) 23-Oct-06) in vertical split mode, it scrolls so slowly, that you can nearly read the output of a "ps xaf" line for line; even in VIM you can see the cursor jumping; after some investigation, it looks like the new version is producing a lot more traffic; because i am using it mainly over ssh, i did a snif of a full "ps xaf" with the new and the old version; the old version needs 107 packets, the new 2618 packets; thats a lot more! if i use only the old (horizontal) split mode, everything is fast as expected; is this a known problem? mfg hermann
