The little box next to the diagram sounds like the side to move icon.
There should be an icon at the top right above the diagram which
consists of a dark brown square above a light brown square and a white
square on their right that turns this on or off.

The size of the diagram is now automatically adjusted in docked mode.
(If Options->Windows->Dock Windows is ticked). Switching to undocked
mode and restarting should give you back the ability to control the
size.
