I received a back-channel response that the comparison between Scid and Chessbase in the "review" I shared from another group was "unfair." I wanted to make something clear about my reasons for sharing, so I quote from my response:
"...I don't think a comparison is necessarily unfair (although I do think the one I shared was slanted!), but a way of possibly providing new ideas for Scid's continued development. I see no reason that Scid can't "compete" with Chessbase in terms of being a desired solution and seek to fight the perception that it's only a stop-gap for those who can't afford "the real thing." I will take the comments from the Scid-users to respond on the forum where the criticism was posted and hope that Scid users and developers will consider the criticism and questions to determine if any are worthy of consideration (since some of them are beyond my knowledge and ability)..." I do hope people here will take the sharing of that post in the way it was intended, as a constructive inquiry. I'm a very happy Scid user and regularly promote it! But Scid, like any other good software, is constantly improving AND I want to be able to fight FUD when I see it :) c ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Learn how Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) One Node allows customers to consolidate database storage, standardize their database environment, and, should the need arise, upgrade to a full multi-node Oracle RAC database without downtime or disruption http://p.sf.net/sfu/oracle-sfdevnl _______________________________________________ Scid-users mailing list Scid-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/scid-users
