Both is no problem. You select the text with the left mouse and drag, it 
get's highlighted. Don't care about the cursor here. As long as it is 
highlighted you can paste it where you want as usual in X11 by clicking 
with the middle button on the spot where to place it.

Indeed, there is none.

What would that supposed to do? If you only have 2/3 of a mouse (lacking 
middle button ;) you'd have to enable "emulate 3rd button" via X11 
setup. Not function of Scid here, it's global to X11.

Ctrl-C does "copy to clipboard" for me, Ctrl-V does insert as usual. 
Unfortunately, indeed SAA-Keys do not work (Ctrl-ins/Shift-ins). Noted.

I can also just select with the left mouse and then paste with the 
middle button as it is supposed to work in X11. The text to copy has to 
be highlighted for this of course, as usual in X11.

Doesn't this all work for you?
