I've been working a lot on a fullscale "computer tournament" feature to do
exactly this
for my project. The code is in scidvspc subversion if you'd like to test it out.
It seems to be working good enough, but the vagaries of muriad chess engines
means it's not perfect. In short - each move is limited to a set time period
after which
analysis is reset, and some lesser engines (mostly xboard) just don't work
properly at
the moment. I'll be making a proper release in the next few weeks.

If you'd like to help, you canĀ  port analysis.tcl to Scid, but it's certainly
not trivial.

I would like to see this feature added to SCID and welcome discussion about
this:

Have the ability to take the current position on the board and have engine-X
play White (using custom time control) against engine-Y (using perhaps a
different time control from engine-X) and automatically play moves for both
sides until a result is obtained (win for one side, or draw).

This is different from the currently available "finish game" feature that uses
only one engine to play moves for both white and black and uses only a
primitive time control (n seconds per move which is rigidly followed).

Thanks.

Roy
