Nope, my SCID 4.0 is using Tcl/Tk 8.5.7.

That refers to another behavior and has nothing to do with the problem at hand. 
I think this is fixed in the new Tcl/Tk 8.5 based in Cocoa (I ship Scid with 
the Carbon based version), I'll take a look into this later.
