I confirm : things do look good for me. [...] What I refer to is simply that _some_ tags get Helvetica > while others respect the fonts I set up to use. Some widgets are bound to use "small font", others "regular font", etc, hence the difference. Note that Helvetica is just approximately supported (see Tk font handling doc). [...] Anyway, my question still persists: HOW can I set the fonts > for Tk on per user level, such that Scid use them > consistently? I'm fine with something like "use .Xdefaults > and there ..." or "you've to set up a new style by using ... > you can use ... as an example" or whatever. But I've no clue > how the Tk people implemented theming, and they obviously > ignore the established theming interfaces like Gnome/Gtk. > You are on your own here : what you are looking at is not portable and very dependent upon your configuration. [...] And I do not understand why e.g. Help/Close button in > Maintanance get a Helvetica while now the first/last buttons > in header search are ok. Though both are buttons, I guess. Both are buttons, but declared with different fonts (and it has always been so). To achieve your goal you have to sync 3 of 4 fonts (Regular, Bold and Small). But anyway this font stuff is certainly not a big concern for me. Pascal
