As a technical detail I am pretty sure the upload limit is /tmp configured as a 1GB tmpfs ram disk which is limiting single commits to 1GB in total. Thought that CVS commits where a bit more .. sparsed? One file per commit and all that.... But yeah, what is taking up the most space for AXIOM would be interesting, sounds like some very large file (binary blob, database? or some such ...)
