Backslashes don't get stripped from the submitted form data, at least in the
support tracker (https://gna.org/support/?func=detailitem&item_id=804) and
probably all others as well. This is a minor bug, but annoying and something
a mature piece of software shouldn't suffer from.
(It should be obvious, but I couldn't find this in your bug tracker, so I
submit it just in case.)
