There are actually two isues here - the new code had a typo expecting
keep_aspect instead of keep-aspect, which has now been fixed in CVS, and
the background extension isn't autoloaded for OSC sequences.
The latter you can force by starting urxvt with
urxvt --background-expr "" ...
Or by manually enabling the background extension
urxvt -pe background ...
