Not knowing what you mean with "works", that looks like a font problem to
me, i.e. vim airline uses characters that your chosen font(set) doesn't
support and urxvt uses a replacement glyph. The solution would be to find
a font that renders those characters the way you want it and use it. That
is nothing that urxvt can fix.
