Harry,

In this case you have several things that could cause the problem. 

1) you are using old versions of rsync 
2) you are using old versions of ssh
3) you are using an old Linux kernel version 

You also have several open ssh connections between the boxes, and your
mail doesn't tell us which connection is your hung rsync.
