Derek, thanks for you kind reply; the configuration works for a single user and it has been made following strictly the instructions.
My particular case is that the jail is in a cluster file system, where the first node own the file system and the second one mount it via nfs. In the first node the user is chrooted normaly, in the second on the user is rejected also for sftp. The configuration of oth nodes is totally equal. Can nfs impact on the different behaviour?
