I just received a reply to that.

The original author of rkhunter, Michael Boelen,
has been working on Lynis exclusively the last years.

John Horne and unSpawn have taken over the rkhunter project
many years ago and have maintained it for years now,
also replying to many support questions.

If John has no time for it anymore, maybe others like
unSpawn do?

If not, it might be an option that Michael or his company,
CISOfy, would take the project back. I guess there must
be a good business case for that then. :-)

This is just my own opinion, please formulate the proper
disclaimer that you think should go along with it yourself. ;-)
