No you do not need to install 'file', but if you don't then you should
disable the script replacement test in your config.

Likewise if you do not install other executables that are used, then
those tests requiring the executable will be skipped. You may want to
disable those tests too rather than having RKH always saying that it is
skipping tests.

I would guess that stat is returning something odd. You could try adding
'STAT_CMD=BUILTIN' to the end of your config file. This will force RKH
to use the supplied script rather than your systems 'stat' command.
