Hi mailing list
Happy 2009 and thanks for a new version, I have been on cvs 1.3.3
1) I have always struggled with gpg...so first the forest....I can install
rkh ok....its just I have trouble getting gpg to work.
here are my attempts
# gpg --list-packets rkhunter-1.3.4.tar.gz.asc
:signature packet: algo 1, keyid C2B0898226447505
version 3, created 1230673926, md5len 5, sigclass 0x00
digest algo 2, begin of digest 8c 79
data: [2048 bits]
# gpg --keyserver keyserver.rutgers.edu --search C2B0898226447505
gpg: searching for "C2B0898226447505" from hkp server keyserver.rutgers.edu
gpg: key "C2B0898226447505" not found on keyserver
hmmm, this has happened before but with older edition it was key =
0x26447505
2) Now what I think is supposed to happen...if I could get the key....is
this
# gpg --verify rkhunter-1.3.4.tar.gz.asc rkhunter-1.3.4.tar.gz
gpg: Signature made Wed 31 Dec 2008 06:52:06 AM WST using RSA key ID
26447505
gpg: Can't check signature: public key not found
3) so the key is not C2B0898226447505 but may be 26447505
ok lets try
# gpg --keyserver keyserver.rutgers.edu --search 26447505
gpg: searching for "26447505" from hkp server keyserver.rutgers.edu
gpg: key "26447505" not found on keyserver
4) Ok lets check my router firewall for gpg ports?
according to services.....HKP= gpg = port 11371
and I have blocked in ....allowed out...and of course that means allow
established.
5) repeated but as local user in case I should not have used root....same
failure for me
I am at a lost at this point where to go next?
any clues?
cheerio
