METP is a fully funded programme initiated in 2006 by the
European Commission and the government of China. Following
of the programme's success in the last years the EU and
China have decided to continue the Programme for an
additional intake, METP 5, which will start in May 2010. The
programme encompasses 10 months of tailor made trainings in
China:
(1) Two weeks of intercultural training with Chinese
managers in China.
(2) Seven months of full-time Business Chinese language
training at the University of International Business and
Economics in Beijing, accompanied by specially tailored
seminars and workshops on business and regulatory issues.
(3) Three months of work placement to gain work experience
in a Chinese environment.
Besides the organisation of the whole stay, the EU will
cover all tuition fees. Participants receive a monthly
living allowance (about 1.000 euros). All graduates receive
an official diploma signed by the EU Ambassador to China and
the President of the Chamber of International Trade of
China. The application phase for METP 5 started on 23
September 2009 and will end on 7 January 2010.
In order to apply you should be a national of an EU member
country, have no or only very limited knowledge of Chinese
language, should be between 26 and 40 years of age and
should have a minimum of five years work experience (of
which at least 2 years must have been in a managerial
position). Applicants from all industries are invited to
apply. Candidates have to present a compelling business plan
for their stay in China.
