I am currently using a US Robotics internal pci modem with no problems,
RH8 picked it up.  I also have a backup $14. pci modem from SAMS, brand
CPU Builder, and it lists Linux compatibility.

I did not need to load any special driver for the US Robotics.  

I tried two others before these and neither worked, so it may be simpler
to just snag the $14. modem and let Linux do the work for you rather
than spend hours trying to force the issue with something less
compatible.
