One of the tasks I have been putting off is getting my linux box to print decently on a particular printer. I have a Canon BJC 6000 printer shared via a Win95 box on the network which does a wonderfull job for any Windows boxen on the network. Printing to this printer from a Linux box however is a total disaster. Odd page breaks, horizontally split lines of text, overwritten lines, just really lousy quality. I've tried all three of the offered print drivers available via the RH 7.3 KDE printer configuration menu and all the permutations of parameters that would logically make sense to turn on or off in each of the driver configurations. Still nothing, so far, has improved the printing from Linux much beyond the dismal stage with this printer. (HP Laserjets, and TI Phasor printers work simply terrific.)
Poking around I found: http://space.tin.it/computer/wvtberti/linux/stp_driver/gs_stp.htm that might be worth a try but I thought I'd ask around before I tried to gag down the instructions here to see if anyone has: a) used this driver and can tell me if it's really worth the time it appears that it will take or b) have a better suggestion. Regards, Mike Klinke One of my friends asked how to learn more about how computers worked. Lately my recommendation seems to be; "Install Linux and get it running to your satisfaction." -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
