I'll toss in my $0.02 and say that I've had good results with OpenOffice. Compatibility seems fine (at least as far as basic files go). My only complaint is that it starts up sooooo slooooow (even on my Athlon XP 1700+ with 256MB DDR). Almost 30s is far too long to open a word processor.
