I have a win2K laptop from work that I periodically use on my home system. I don't want to change any of the settings on the laptop. It uses dhcp and always attempts to autoupdate my name server.
As an experiment I changed the named.conf file to allow updating. Sure enough the win2k pc added reverse mapping ie. ip -> hostname but it didn't do the forward mapping ie. hostname -> ip.
