Dell Laptop wont start X

I just installed RH 8.0 on a Dell Latitude C810, went off w/o a hitch untill I rebooted.  The graphic interface will not come up.  I get no error but I see that X attempts to start and then I go back to a text login about 3 X's and to make matters worse an error appears after all this but I cant read it.  The borders are nothing but q's and x's.   My question is this did I choose the wrong graphic adapter or video driver?   When installing RH I choose dell laptop display 1024 x 768 as there was nothing specific to the dell LCD display.   Any help is greatly appreciated.   Thanks   Wes
