I second all such comments about bugs in RH8 RPM. I've had it freeze and not respond to any kill signals on several boxes. It even happened to many of the people during the RHCE 301 class I was in. Very ironic while the instructor was extolling the virtues of RPM and yet many students were having their login shells stuck...
