So I looked in hwconf. Thats the first place I have seen any sign of my nic.
Here is what it looks like

bus: PCI
detached: 0
device: eth
driver: unknown

No sign of being "disabled"

im not sure what lspci is cause i couldn't run it. Im almost sure my PATH is ok so im not sure what to do now.

lspci is exactly what I was going to suggest only I usually run it with
the -v option.

You might need to run it as root to get all the information.

lspci -v
