I would think the easiest way is to install the smp kernel off of the
RedHat 8.0 CD 1.

They are located in the /RedHat/RPMS/ directory.  Choose one of the
following, depending on what type of system you have (athlon or intel).

kernel-smp-2.4.18-14.athlon.rpm
kernel-smp-2.4.18-14.i686.rpm

Then, just do a rpm -Uvh <kernel rpm filename>
