an amusing followup to that recent thread on microsoft
and bri... uh, donations in india, a recent link at linuxtoday.com
describes how microsoft is negotiating to (take a deep breath
here) *share* the source code to windows with government
officials in india.

of course, this "sharing" will be done in a very restricted way,
with only select government agencies, no doubt in aid of swaying
that country from its inexorable march to linux.

this strategy does inspire some interesting questions,
though, such as -- if microsoft has, for years, claimed
that open source code is inherently less secure, how can
they legitimately defend sharing theirs more freely?

even more of an issue is that, what with the current
hysteria over terrorism and national security, how can
MS defend sharing its precious code with government
officials *in* *another* *country*??? the mind reels.
