Well, Linux has come along way with auto detecting new hardware. If the nic is on the Hardware Compatibility list for Red Hat, you can simply add it to the machine and reboot. Kudzu should detect it and ask you if you want to configure the new device. Once that is done, you are all set. You can, then, use a tool like Webmin (http://www.webmin.com) to administrate it.
