All you have to do is repartition your hard drive so you have an appropriately sized FAT32 partition for 98. Make a bootdisk with Linux. You'll need it after you install 98 since Microsoft does not honor the MBR with 98's install. After making the partition and the bootdisk, install Win98 and once it runs on its own, boot Linux from the disk and reinstall your bootloader. Add an entry for 98 if you already haven't.
I do not know of any problems that arise from this. I ran 98 on the same box for a year and XP this year. If you need any more help or experience problems with this issue, just post a reply.

Hey gang,

I've got to do some develompnet for a USB solution, & my Windows
machine's USB stuff doesn't seem to be working. Is it possible for
me to install Win98 on my linux server, such that I can occasionally
take it down & do development work on it? I recall from days of old,
that Windows had to be on the 1st hard disk, preferably on the 1st
partition. Is that still the case? I dunno is I have much free
space on the 1st HD, but maybe I can make something work. How do I
go about changing partition sizes & whatnot?

Thanks in advance,

Tom
