It's easy to re-install grub, and that is what I would do.  Bone up on
setting up lilo though - i have a number of systems that won't run from
grub for some bizarre reason.  Also, if he has multiple drives - I
recommend setup () on all of them, unless you have a specific reason not
to. [i.e. Window$].
