In general, yes. You might need to update some other pacakges samba depends on. I am not sure why samba hasn't been updated for earlier RH releases, but they might have been shipped with versions of samba that are not affected. You might also get the source rpm and rebuild it on your system with rpmbuild. See man rpmbuild for details.
