I'm afraid that, if it is actually doing the updates, it's something 
you've configured.

I say this because I have RHN configured on 4 separate system, and none of 
them automatically download/apply updates.  I get notifications that an 
errata has been released which would apply to one or more of those 
systems, and I manually go and run up2date to pull down the updates.

No point blaming RH for actions that you configured your system to take.
