Curious - are you using Athlon MP chips or are you attempting to force
Athlon XP's or Tbirds which usually work but aren't "supported" as SMP?

A good chipset is essential too. AMD's and Via's have both been save w/ me,
though sometimes they come w/ a cost premium.

And to keep this Linux related - have you yanked a CPU to see if stability
improved within Linux?
