I am running RH8, and have Samba Configured - sort of. I can use smbclient to connect to my W2K Machine I can use the Run Command from W2K and enter \\Linux.IP.Address, enter username and password and see the linux shares
The problem is that I can not get the Linux machine to appear in the Network neighbourhood of W2K. I have searched the archives, and two things seem to come up :- W2K must be run in NMB compatibility mode Ports 137-139 need to be open on my Linux Box ethernet card Can anyone advise of either of these could solve the problem. I am new at this Linux game, and am not sure of the using iptables to check ports are open or how to open them.
