That sounds about right, actually.

Run the command "lokkit" as root, choose "Customize" and put
"auth:tcp auth:udp" in the "Others" field.

Restart ipchains, then the network and you're good to go.

Edit /etc/sysconfig/desktop and put this line in it:

DESKTOP="KDE"
