It's the classic robber-baron tactic: use every possible means to extract money from your victims, er customers, and then give a miniscule amount back in the form of very high profile charity. Cameras flash and pr flacks by the hundreds write puff pieces that gets passed off as news. I do not think it's admirable at all. What I would think is admirable is if Gates and co finally decided to stop breaking the law.
